Jumoke Balogun

VICE PRESIDENT OF PROGRAMS

Jumoke is the Vice President of Programs and part of the founding team of Merit America. She comes to Merit America with extensive experience in policy development and community engagement. She has worked as an impact producer, creating partnerships between documentary filmmakers and civil right leaders; as an aide in both the Missouri House of Representatives and in United States House of Representatives, where she formulated and articulated policy issues related to economic inequality; and as a media relations expert at SEIU, the fastest growing labor union in North America. 

She also served in the Obama Administration as an advisor to former U.S. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez, where she designed and led stakeholder engagement with worker advocates and business leaders on policies aimed at boosting economic mobility for low-income people. Before joining the Administration, she provided hands-on operations and communications support to grassroots organizations working on education equity in communities across the country – including rural Mississippi, New York City, New Orleans, Miami, and Ferguson – at Advancement Project, a national racial justice organization.

Jumoke received her BA in Media Relations from the University of Missouri Kansas-City and her MA in International Affairs from American University.
