SAN FRANCISCO – September 6, 2024 – Merit America, a national nonprofit dedicated to creating fast, flexible pathways to well-paying careers for workers in low-wage jobs, today announced the launch of Promoted, a new podcast designed to help Americans leave low-wage work for good. Promoted will debut on September 6, 2024, across all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
With more than 53 million Americans earning below a living wage, and families taking five generations on average to move from poverty to the middle class, Promoted addresses one of the nation’s most urgent challenges. The podcast shares real-life stories from Merit America learners and career coaches, offering practical advice and strategies to help listeners overcome personal and professional obstacles and transition into meaningful, well-paying careers.
“Our goal with Promoted is to equip our listeners with the knowledge and motivation they need to take the next step in their careers,” said Brittany Davis-Green, Director of Communications at Merit America. “This podcast reflects our commitment to helping individuals not just find jobs but build meaningful, sustainable careers that align with their goals and values.”
Each episode of Promoted features conversations between Merit America career coaches and program alumni, chatting about the key challenges they overcame on their path to professional success. The podcast highlights their journey from feeling stuck to finding a career they love, personal fulfillment and the potential for growth in the future.
“All I needed was a tiny little push from somebody, anybody,” shared Merit America alum April Tillery during episode 3 of Promoted. “I want to be that push for somebody else. And if we all do that together, we can really change a lot and we can all succeed.”

About Merit America
Merit America is a national nonprofit preparing workers stuck in low-wage roles for family-sustaining careers at scale. Hailed by the New York Times as “the hybrid future of training programs for the disadvantaged,” we offer fast and flexible training and job search programs that work for working adults and are aligned to the most in-demand roles in the fastest-growing sectors of the U.S. economy. Founded in 2018, we now serve thousands of working adults across the country, driving an average annual wage gain of $24,000 for alumni three months or more after program completion. We’re on track to drive $1B in wage gains by 2025.
