Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the Job Search Accelerator and how Merit America works.

Is the training in-person, online, or both?

The program is 100% virtual, and it’s interactive. You’ll work through self-paced coursework, meet 1:1 with your career coach, join live office hours, and practice interviews through the Merit America platform.

You’ll also use widely adopted digital workplace tools along the way, including Zoom, Slack, Google Workspace, and the Merit America Learner Portal.

What are the admission requirements?

To be eligible for Merit America’s programs, the following must be true:

  • You have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Associate and bachelor’s degree holders are welcome.
  • You are a resident of the U.S. and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • DACA and Temporary Residents must have a status/visa that does not expire within six months of the start date.
  • Residents of U.S. territories are eligible for our program.
  • You are 18 years of age or older.
What does a typical week look like?

Plan for about 7 hours per week, split between self-paced work and live sessions. Each week you’ll work through a guided milestone, meet 1:1 with your career coach, join live office hours, and complete an interview simulation or capstone step.

Because most of the work is self-paced, you can fit it around your job and family. An optional menu of videos, Coursera courses, and extra practice is available each week if you want to go deeper on a particular topic.

What kind of support will I receive during the program?

When you join Merit America, there’s a team dedicated to your success.

Your career coach meets with you weekly for personalized goal-setting, feedback, and guidance on your resume, LinkedIn profile, and career goals. They’ll also help you prepare for interviews, network effectively, and navigate job offers.

Live office hours give you real-time support from your coach as you work through each week’s milestone.

What’s expected of me?

To successfully complete the Job Search Accelerator you must:

  • Complete each week’s core milestones, including your resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile.
  • Attend your live coaching sessions and office hours each week.
  • Practice and complete your interview simulations and mock interview.
  • Build and submit your job search capstone.
Can you guarantee me a job?

We can’t guarantee job placement or salaries, but we do provide a structured training curriculum, professional career development, and dedicated job-search support. Because of this, the majority of job-seeking alumni are placed in new jobs within three months of completion.
