Merit America, a national workforce development nonprofit, has named Edgar Ho as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Ho will oversee the organization’s accounting and revenue operations functions, bringing decades of experience in financial strategy, public policy, and mission-driven leadership to the role.
“Edgar brings a unique mix of financial expertise, start-up experience, and deep commitment to our mission, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team,” said Anne Keenan, Managing Partner at Merit America. “As we scale our impact and reach more learners nationwide, his leadership will help ensure we do so with financial strength, clarity, and purpose.”
Ho’s career spans the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He has held CFO roles at both large multinational corporations and venture-backed startups, including serving as CFO of Adidas Group Greater China during a period of rapid growth from $1 billion to $4 billion in revenue. He later led financial operations at Everlane and Good Eggs, two Bay Area startups known for their innovative approaches to retail and online grocery. Most recently, he served as CFO of Elevate K-12, an edtech company tackling the nationwide teacher shortage crisis.
Before transitioning into finance, Ho worked as a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, where he led major education-focused projects, including the development of a statewide roadmap for public education reform in Delaware. He began his professional career in public service, serving as a Legislative Director in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“It was Merit America’s mission that inspired me to make the pivot from the private sector to the social impact world,” said Ho. “Economic justice matters deeply to me—so I’m proud—and humble— to be working directly on this pressing challenge at Merit America. So excited to be joining the team!”
Ho holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School, a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan.
Outside the office, Edgar is a proud father of three and an avid runner, reader, and home chef. Based in San Francisco, he enjoys cheering on his proudly adopted hometown teams—the Warriors, 49ers, and Giants.
