We don’t negotiate salaries.  We believe in transparency, and salaries are posted on all job descriptions. This is in accordance with our compensation philosophy to ensure equitable compensation. 

Throughout the process, you will meet multiple Merit America colleagues. Candidates will have the opportunity to meet with multiple interviewers during our panel interview stage. These panels are conducted to reduce in-group bias and allow you to meet more potential colleagues!

 VidCruiter is an asynchronous video interview platform where candidates will record responses to pre-selected questions. We have predetermined questions grounded in competencies to understand better your interest in Merit America and the position in particular. We carefully selected this platform given its guardrails against biases and user/candidate friendliness.

Some tips for doing well:

• Do your research on Merit America and reflect upon why you want to work at our organization and in this role
• Be yourself! We want you to be your authentic self throughout this process. 
• We know that talking by yourself in a one-way interview can feel awkward, and to help ease you into the video interview, we have practice questions and provide reattempts for interview questions. Some people find it helpful to “mock interview” themselves and practice speaking about their experiences when no one is on the other end replying back. A great way to do this is in front of a mirror.
• Be conscious of your time to answer. Most questions have a 2-3 minute time limit. Make sure you’re concise with your answers and wrap up your thoughts before the allotted time runs out.
• Be sure to review the deadline and complete the VidCruiter interview within the given time frame (usually within 3 days).
• VidCruiter is best used in the most up-to-date versions of Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, or Internet Explorer 11. It is also compatible with iOS and Android devices, but we recommend using a laptop or desktop with a camera and microphone.

We wish that we could speak with every candidate, but the number of highly qualified applicants per role is often too high to allow for it, which means that fully qualified candidates may not be selected at times. Our small team reviews about 5,000 applications each month. We know this might be frustrating, and we encourage you to apply early with application materials that are aligned with our organization and the role.

Apply early: We recommend applying early when you spot a role you’re interested in. We encourage you to reflect on the application questions and share your thoughtful responses because our talent acquisition and hiring teams truly review them all. In fact, we read application question responses before we even look at a candidate’s resume. This is a great opportunity for you to show us why you’re interested in Merit America and why you want this job in particular. Given the competitive pool, we receive a high volume of strong applications for our roles, which means that fully qualified candidates may not be selected.

Tailor your resume to the role: We also recommend tailoring your resume to the role. It should be very clear to our recruiting team that you have the skills and qualifications that we’re looking for.
