Anthony Peterson

Program Success Manager & Career Coach

Anthony (Tony) Peterson knows what it is like to be employed, unemployed and
underemployed. Since his layoff during the Great Recession in2009, he has helped
hundreds of job seekers through career coaching, interview prep, and resume writing.

In addition, Tony is committed to diversity, inclusion and equity, having lived, studied,
written about, and coached about diversity realities throughout his life. He has practiced
DEI efforts globally, collaborating with colleagues in Canada, Brazil, United Arab
Emirates, Ukraine, South Africa and the United Kingdom. His individual coaching clients
are similarly scattered around the globe in North and South America, Africa, Asia,
Australia, and Europe. Tony’s academic clients include Harvard University and
Northwestern University. His corporate clients include Nike International, the American
Dental Association, the Country Music Association, and Dallas Children’s Theater.

Tony’s DEI work became particularly personal in 2014, when he started documenting
race conversations with his grandchildren. As a result, his TEDx talk, “What I Am
Learning from My White Grandchildren: Truths about Race,” has gained almost 4 million
views. He presented a second TEDx talk in 2021 called “Beyond Empathy: Next Steps
in “Talking about Race.”

Tony’s degrees in psychology, religious education, and culture and learning strategies
inform his perspective on career coaching. He has served on the board of Touchstone
Youth Resource Services, which provides social emotional learning for middle and high
school students in Nashville public schools. He currently serves on the DEI committee
for the board of Edgehill Neighborhood Partnerships, which focuses on affordable
housing, food and basic necessities, and education/youth empowerment.

Tony lives with his wife, Laura, in Nashville, Tennessee where they grateful to be close
to their 12 grandchildren.
