Kenya Buford

I had two dreams growing up, to become a famous author and teach middle school literature/creative writing. During undergrad, I became heavily involved on campus and fell in love with helping others navigate their academic journey. This led to over a decade of student services roles in the higher education sector. I have a BA in English (Writing) and Master of Education in Adult & Higher Ed, and am still and will forever be in the business of helping others transform their lives.

I chose Merit America because even as a first-generation college student, I realized that being able to pursue a college education was a privilege. I also began to realize a vast number of our youth and working adults face barriers that make accessing a degree or certification a challenge. Merit America is creating equity by eliminating barriers. The support within the program from start to job placement is unmatched. I wanted to be a part of that.
