Great Place To Work® and Fortune magazine have named Merit America as one of the 2023 Best Workplaces for Millennials. Earning this distinction signifies that Merit America has surpassed rigorous benchmarks, establishing itself as one of the country’s best companies to work for.
To determine the Fortune Best Workplaces for Millennials™ List, Great Place To Work collected nearly 500,000 responses from millennials at companies eligible for the list. To be considered, companies had to be Great Place To Work Certified™ and have at least 50 millennial employees in the U.S.
The Best Workplaces for Millennials list is highly competitive, and survey responses reflect a comprehensive picture of the workplace experience. Honorees were selected based on their ability to offer positive outcomes for employees regardless of job role, race, gender, sexual orientation, work status or other demographic identifiers.
“Being a great place to work isn’t just a byproduct of our success—it’s a deliberate strategy to attract, develop and retain core talent in a fiercely competitive environment,” said Merit America Co-CEOs Connor Diemand-Yauman and Rebecca Taber Staehelin. “Our people are the driving force behind our mission, enabling us to deliver life-changing wage gains to Americans stuck in low-wage work with unrivaled effectiveness.”
As a career development nonprofit, Merit America provides a pathway for low-wage workers to secure family-sustaining careers in tech.
The culture at Merit America is deeply rooted in the company’s values. Open communication and relationship-building are encouraged through various initiatives, including virtual all-staff meetings, open office hours, Donut meetings on Slack, regional in-person meet-ups and all-staff off-site meetings.
Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, Merit America prioritizes the well-being of its employees by offering a four-day workweek with Fridays off year-round. Additionally, the organization provides unlimited vacation time and flexible remote work options, empowering employees to maintain a healthy work-life integration.
“With the largest share of the workforce today, the workplace experience of millennials says a lot about your organization,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “These workers are looking for authentic leadership, meaningful work, and a healthy work environment — and they show loyalty to those who can deliver.”
“Congratulations to all of the Best Workplaces for Millennials finalists,” says Fortune Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell. “These companies are setting themselves up for continued success by committing to the purpose-driven work that attracts the next generation of business talent.”
In addition to this recent recognition, Merit America was certified as a Great Place to Work in Oct. 2022, with 97% of employees at Merit America stating it is a great place to work compared to 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company.
The organization was also recently honored with the distinction of being named a 2023 Top Place to Work by Ragan.
